Haiti Bowls are once again available for Lent to take beginning on the weekend of Feb. 6th/7th. The bowls each year are this Parish’s main fund raiser that contributes to our support for the people of St. Eugene de Mazenod Parish in Les Cayes. Over the last four years the sacrifices our parishioners have made each Lent, along with individual donations made through the year, have allowed us to send an average of $2,500 each year to the Pastor at St. Eugenes to support two significant educational programs:
- One for young children attending L’Ecole la Fare (The Lighthouse School) a school for children of families who cannot other wise send their children to any other school, and
- The other a sewing school for young women. Sewing is a major cottage industry in Haiti and supplies many families with a little extra income.
The funds also help support a group of woman at St. Eugene’s that sew and embroider the beautiful baptismal gowns presented to families here at St. Joseph - St. Pius X for their infant’s baptism. Your sacrifices help to keep these vital programs operating. A little goes a long way in Haiti.
