Hello to All of you, we again are quite near the end of the year or (if you prefer) the beginning of the new year. Whichever your preference, this time of year is always one of reflection and expectation. Many businesses will count inventories at the new year. It is a good thing for all of us to do as well. If we look at the accomplishments of our past year in our Parish life: we merged the two parishes of Saint Joseph and Saint Pius X, winterized and changed the status of Saint Joseph Church from an everyday church to a Chapel of convenience, we baptized 21 new members, confirmed 17 young men and women, married 1 lovely couple, buried 30 parishioners, and provided over 200 families with food and gifts for Christmas. These simple statistics may sound a bit abstract at first, but if you are a member of the church who took part or know and love one of the actual people who was included in these statstics then they mean something very dear. We as a parish must not see ourselves as limited to a few buildings on either or both of our campuses; we have to come to know ourselves as the people of God who happen to reside in the town of Leicester (for the most part). Without the people of our parishes these buildings will quickly deteriorate and turn to dust and ashes. The edifices are meaningful only because we have given them meaning, if we were not here they would be just another building. In your new year inventories please take into account the great and good works that have come to be associated with these buildings. Those good works were done not by our buildings, they were done by the people of God who, for the most part live in Leicester, or Saint Joseph-Saint Pius X Parish. Peace and Happy New Year,

Fr. Rob
